Until the year 1998, Airoli was structured just like any another town on the Thane-Belapur road. But as soon as the Mulund-Airoli Bridge got constructed in 1999, there was no looking back in growth and development of this node in Navi Mumbai. Also, earlier this township was maintained and developed by City and Industrial Corporation (CIDCO), but now the jurisdiction comes under Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC).

Thane Belapur road is the maximum used node of transport for many working individuals, hence increasing the demand for stay in a place like Airoli.

Some of the important routes of Airoli:
- Thane-Belapur Road: Through this route one can easily stay connected with important township like Thane and Kalwa.
- Eastern Express Highway: Through this highway one can easily reach Mulund and the rest of Mumbai.
- Mulund-Airoli: By driving through this route one can reach Mulund easily in 20-25 minutes from Airoli.
